Canada is known to be one of the favorite tourist destinations of visitors across the globe. Likewise, it would not be surprising to know that Canada is now among the top countries that are considered safe and stable for International students. According to survey reports from Navitas Insights conducted in May 2020, Canada has been quite successful in managing the COVID 19 pandemic and is a hot favorite study destination among international students who are planning to pursue higher studies.
WHY CANADA?
One of the most significant of the discoveries made by these surveys is that, not all the countries considered to be safe and stable are open and welcoming to global students during these pandemic times. Canada being one of its kind, has been courageous enough to have formulated and introduced various measures to ensure that international students are allowed to reach their desired study destinations in Canada. It may seem quite encouraging to the students who are willing to pursue their studies in Canada. Only those colleges or universities who have obtained approval on their COVID 19 Readiness plan from their Provincial government are allowed to enroll students in their respective institutions irrespective of the place the student is travelling from. Australia and New Zealand are some of the other countries that are similar to Canada in terms of being safe and stable for International students.
Another revelation made by a second survey in September 2020 by Navitas Insights depicts that Canada has excelled in its performance since May and is competing with the United Kingdom to bag the top spot.
STUDY PERMIT:
A study permit is a document issued by the Canadian government that allows the foreign nationals to study in Canada at the Designated Learning Institutions (DLI). Study Permit allows the student to study in Canada and is different from a visa. The validity of the study permit is based on the length of the study program that you have applied to. An additional 90 days is provided to the student to let him/her prepare to leave Canada or in furtherance to this apply for an extension of stay. The cost of applying to obtain a study permit is $150.
To be eligible to apply for a study permit, the applicant must have enrolled in a Designated Learning Institution and should have proof of funds to support his/her education and living expenses. One should not have a criminal record and should possess good health.
There are many good immigration consultants in Brampton who can help you if you are not knowledgeable enough in all these processes you should go through.
STEPS FOR OBTAINING THE CANADIAN STUDY PERMIT:
- As a prospective student you are under a moral obligation to research about and decide on the Designated Learning Institution (DLI) you are willing to attend and study at. Furthermore, you can even finalize the program you are willing to enroll in. The choices you make should be based on the pre-set parameters that you have decided for yourself.
- You can apply for your desired program complying with all the directions and rules as specified by the designated institution.
- If your application is approved; you may receive a Letter of Acceptance from the Designated Learning Institution that you have applied to.
- You may now submit an application to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to obtain a study permit. Ensure that while submitting your application to the IRCC you need to abide by the rules and regulations and comply with all the directions and specifications of documents and procedures.
